Who says artists have a serious, solemn mien – looking at Paresh Maity at his art preview, this myth was busted, rather stylishly. Clad in a self-designed black long jacket, that was inspired by his own artworks, he looked every bit if an icon.
As India celebrates ‘India Art Fair’ – South Asia’s leading art fair for modern and contemporary art across the world, The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi along with Art Alive Gallery, presented an exclusive art preview to showcase select works of Padma Shree awardee Paresh Maity. The special collection titled ‘Yatra’ is an ongoing series of travel, people’s relationship, essence of life and colors of India, which have been captured beautifully in five artworks. Easy on the eye, pleasing and a riot of colors hemmed frames that created a stir in the heart and soul. I personally liked the one that explained ‘life in a full circle’.
Talking about the collection Paresh Maity said, “My show “Yatra’ hosted by The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi and Art Alive Gallery is a tribute to celebration of life filled with colours, energy, music and passion.”
Hosted by the lavish Taj Mahal Hotel, that stands as an icon in India’s capital city, is a proud purveyor of art, heritage and culture. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satyajeet Krishnan, General Manager, The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi said, “Over the years, The Taj Mahal Hotel has celebrated art in various forms. Be it art on the palate at our award-winning restaurants or art adorned on various locations in the Hotel, we continue to pay ode by creating memorable experiences. We are proud to associate with art legend Paresh Maity for this exclusive preview of Yatra presenting his unique works. Keeping up with the celebrations around India Art Fair, we bring to our patrons various exhilarating offerings.”
The evening saw the presence of prominent personalities from across various fields including Shakti Burman, Anjolie Ela, Uma Nair, Shivani Wazir, Suhel Seth, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, and Dilip Cherian amongst the many others.
