India Art Fair 2015 is on it’s full swing. Amidst the sea of the meritorious and the hunky dory was another form of art that caught the eye – “Barista Meets Artista” – Le Mèridien initiative – a jugalbandi between the barista and the artist. Esther Maasdam (Barista) and Sohan Jakhar (artist) created stunning coffee designs using sticks, blocks and of course, expertise. Esther made Indian motifs like Gansha, Peacock, TajMahal, flowers to show Indian art while Sohan created an art of block printing using coffee. The coffee art that caresses our visual nerve before trickling down, is not an easy ‘bean’ to crack – it takes a lot of precision to get the design right – the coffee culture that Le Mèridien supports and endeavors to grow is laudable.
Esther Maasdam, the global latte artist, said on the occasion “As a brand that targets the creative minded traveler, Le Meridien has given me this amazing platform through the Indian Art Fair’s seventh edition to showcase the splendour of latte art. Merging my work in latte art with the inspiration that travel naturally brings is an exciting and unique challenge”
