It was a Bollywood Night @ Story Westin, Gurgaon and I was sure I am not missing out on
1. A Bollywood night as I am totally filmy
2. A Wingding at one of my favorite places Story for its awesome vibe
As the clock struck 9 30 I, like a tried and true party-holic, was, Tada, there for the gambol. What leaves me enthralled is the huge space this nightclub envelops – from the ceiling lights stitched up in an agglomerate in metallic copper and silver grey, to the dim gold dusted vibe, the comfy settings – arranged for closeted amours and the handsome sprawling bar, in bright hues of neon purple, that witnesses sweet nothings and clandestine chatters over cocktails that carve out a story with each sip. The award for the best cocktail of the night goes to the one my prettiest friends Saumya had – The Purple Sour – the fusion of ginger, rum, lemon just made her topple over her tipple.
I usually like to stick to my Merlot or Shiraz and I just did that.
The music being an integral part of Story, is quite sorted. Dj Akhtar was excited to be playing the night out. In a quick chat he said, “I would be playing Bollywood music tonight as the genre is the most popular but I’ll take it easy. The transition from soft, romantics to the high octane, crazy is going to be easy. A lot of my playing depends on the mood of my audience”.
The good part of Story is that you could, while enjoying great music, some great stand-up comedy shows, savor a huge range of cocktails and potions crafted by award-winning mixologists at prices that won’t create a shaft down your pockets. A 30ml of rum or vodka can easily come in for about 200Rs. For a place that offers a comfy cigar lounge to fizz out your worries, a huge open terrace that overlooks the grandeur of the wonderful Westin and the plush metro line in a panoramic delight, drinks and food are quite reasonably priced. All of cocktails are priced at Rs. 600. And the place boast of an extensive cocktail menu, all crafted with a story behind.
The excitement of meeting old friends enriched with a great evening is just about enough, but to add to it, good food makes it all the more fulfilling. What I relished was the Tapas – Spinach and Mushroom puff pastry ( very flaky – sign of a good puff and quite scrumptiously sized), Spanish Lamb Meat Balls served with tomato and oregano sauce (one of the best in Tapas to try) and the Paprika Prawns that were fried with oats as the crust – crunchy, fresh and a must try.
Another thing that I liked was the Duo Tenderloin Chicken Burger that, as the name suggests, come in a pair with side accompaniments of wedges and lettuce salad. The burger was not too big, probably that’s the philosophy behind keeping it in pair. Good idea! Handy to share and not too much to stuff your mouth with – priced at Rs. 420 (chicken), it’s quite a treat.
You have other options to choose from like Asian, Indian, Tapas, Antipasti and others like pitas, panini, spring rolls, marinated olives, smaller snacks to befriend your drink.
Story will not let you walk out without your own story, crafted and curated, for life!
