A perfect afternoon – misty sprinkling, a cozy clime, canny conversation with the food savants and pouring cocktails!
Could you ask for more, eh? So, my PR friend, also my comrade from school, Swati invited me to a cocktail tasting session at Tease. The plush Vivanta by Taj, Gurgaon that stands on the busy buzzing street of the Millennium City, is quite a tantalizer. The classy interiors and the predominant swank is not a blink-and-you-miss-it feature – its hemmed around.
The high energy bar, Tease was all set to serve the Cocktails exquisitely crafted using liqueurs from around the world to give us a hint of that region in our tipple, each one of which was quite a mouthful.
Having to fight the traffic tornado of Gurgaon on a rainy day, I reached a little late – by that time the table that seated all the food journalists was bustling with global goblets – I was welcomed with Oeuvre de Gaul from France: Cognac, herbs, honey, lemon came together to create a stir in my mouth. A cocktail sans sugar and delicate enough to just strike the right cord, was a heartthrob. To go perfectly with this cocktail were the Brandied liver and Hazelnut pate – good but not for me, sadly as I am not a liver fan.
Another Cocktail that I really enjoyed was the one from Italy – A L’Italiano: Sambuca, coconut Syrup. It was almost like savoring a desert – laden with texture and creamy with potion hitting the nerve right. Along with it, the appetizer Ggorgonzola scented Arancini is the very thing to order a la cart while indulging at Tease.
Another one that I recommend is our very own Hind from India: old monk, mint, sugar syrup – I was impressed with the presentation of this one in a huge kullad with amazing amount of mint leaves, providing the refreshment most required to lift you off the blues. The Tandoori Malai button mushrooms were charcoal-ed to perfection, thoughtfully crafted to suit Indian taste buds.
The Herbed potato latkes were awesome – fried ecstasy – a must try again. Goes well with the German Deutsch Twinge: Jägermeister, black tea, sweet n sour shot decorated with Orange peel, a good way to cap your sojourn at Tease.
There were more Cocktails like the Sunny Marrakech from Morocco, Russian Bear from Russia (Vodka, ginger ale, sweet n sour were mixed with precision to give you a beer that you could devour not just drink, high on flavors especially if you are a ginger lover, you’d find this giving you a ‘ginger’ high), Iberian Ecstasy from Spain (sherry, brown sugar, milk, egg white were amalgamated to create a white foamy drink that was rich in texture) and Caribbean Djembe from Caribbean Islands (the appetizer that compliments this drink are the chicken and pineapple dolmas – wrapped exquisitely, it is a taste of fineness).
The bold cocktails at Tease is for the modern cosmopolitan, who have been bred in the environ that feasts upon impelling and simmering ways of life. Swearing by the ‘bon vivant’ philosophy Tease boldly creates spirits with global flair to cater to the global trotters.
