Sitting in a snug corner of the electrifying upbeat ‘city of clubs and lights’ – Hauz Khas, this on the go and ferociously social ‘Bulldog’ will under bite your sybaritic desire, you’d actually want to return to pet him again. Bulldogs is a terrific lounge, spread over a massive lanky 3-tiered space – sturdy and big justifying its breed. The owners Shrom Bhudhiraja and Akshay Adya have done a very intelligent thing by coming up with a name as engaging and ensnaring as this. As you move up through the spiral staircase, something that I like to do instead of going up the escalator just to absorb the motley excitement at each level, you cross the sitting lounge that is home to cosy auburn leather lounges in uni-tone tangerine radiance. The second level lets you snooze, not literally, but in the comfort of the low-seating lounge with sobriquet bed-lounge dressed up in cantaloupe effervescence. The third level is aire libre, blanc chiffonier – under-the-dainty-stars-and-the-hearty-moon space where you could indulge in some casual prattle con amigos or clandestine murmur. This is where I sat with my tipple from the Drink Exchange – if you’re thinking I was playing stocks while at the lounge, you are right! I was playing the stocks but with drinks – a whole day long, unique feature at the Bulldogs (actually the very first in Delhi it seems) where you could buy your drinks at rock bottom prices in a market crash situation – a concept to turn your happy hours into the ‘Happiest’. Enjoying the mid-winter nip, I savoured the first thing of the evening – the Jalapenos Poppers – hollowed out spicy, crispy and cheesy cheddar fried, surely one of my favourites from the widely globalised menu of American, Indian, Mughlai and Italian cuisines. The Stuffed Chicken Breast – which has delightful stuffing of spinach, cheese and jalapenos with lyonnaise potato and salad are just aptly done – a must try in Grills. Roasted Peri Peri Chicken was well marinated in the fiery peri peri sauce – you could live through the tang and the heat while savouring the flamed tender chicken. The Honey Chilly Potatoes were saucy and yumm to snack on. The place boasts of pizzas, burgers, Indian grills. They have a range of specially curated cocktails to choose from – mojito was fresh, refreshing and quite a size! We also had the air of the paan hukka which was quite flavorsome.
P:S – Don’t forget to gnaw on the most coveted hotdogs – 16 of them to choose from.
