Here is to our calm and composed lover Manu (R. Madhavan) and the rebellious Tanu (Kangana Ranaut): one of the most beautiful love stories in Bollywood – Tanu weds Manu which found its culmination in a happy wedding. Now the love story Returns!
The whole cast of Tanu weds Manu Retruns was present at the poster launch of the film at the gorgeous Dusit Devarana. The event became double special as it was Kangana’s 28th Birthday. The lawns right at the back of the beautiful property came alive with the ambience of the place with the theme being The Big Fat Indian Wedding. The stage was lit and decorated in the traditional red colour with flowers and sequences hanging from all the sides bestowing upon us the beauty of marriage. There was an array of Indian chaats and traditional delicacies laid out just before the star cast arrived, keeping intact the vibe of an ostentatious wedding. As the name suggests Tanu WEDS Manu Returns, the movie revolves around the married couple and the obstacles in their journey. The impact of the movie has been such that Kangana says “whatever little hope there was of in my mind of getting hitched has now been clouded by the film after the pugnacious portrayal of Tanu in the sequel”.
Kangana looked stunning in a Sabyasachi flowing long skirt with floral pattern along with a cropped top of the same design. She paired it perfectly with her Amrapali neck piece. Though she looked a little tired after a strenuous day at shooting, she managed to pull of the gathering with a cheerful demeanor. She was the epitome of grace and confidence as she welcomed every question that was thrown her way and answered them in her own witty style. To an amusing question from the audience which inquired what happened to ‘Queen’ in the end, Kangana in her witty state said, “Queen got out of that film, met Manu and married him and now you can see what happens to her in the sequel”, making sure she doesn’t digress from the sequel’s promotion at the same time graciously responding to the question intended. Intelligent!
Madhavan on the other hand was dressed in a check jacket and a pair of basic pants. He stated that he is a very ‘lazy’ actor which made even more of an impact with his casual attire. When he was asked about his heart throbbing smile and all the female attention that he gets for it he, maintaining his boyish magnetism, said, “When I received all that attention I was 15 years younger but I still welcome it in case it is ever comes my way”. He worked very hard and became all buffed for his movie ‘Saala Khadoos’ which is his next after a break of 3 years. After losing ample amount of weight he is looking even more desirable and intense. A happy person indeed, he is much more like ‘Tanu’ in reality than ‘Manu’. His humour precedes him and makes him even more attractive.
The other actors from the film graced the occasion – Swara Bhaskar who is a beauty with brains dressed up in all white looked unruffled, Eijaz Khan, who I think was planning on hitting the gym afterwards with all his randomness, maintained his poise, Jimmy Shergill with his intense look and serious bearing looked a little bushed but with good grace answered all questions. Usually seen an an intense actor, Jimmy enjoys doing light-hearted films as well. And though, last time, in the first part of the film, he couldn’t get the leading lady because of his conservative outlook, he is more than assured there is something in store for him this time around. He says, “The character Raja who had a mad streak in him has matured in the past 5 years. This time the movie is pacier and more humorous“. Last but not the least, Deepak Dobriyal aka ‘Pappiji’, who opened the show with his wacky humor, was a delight to watch perform a small gig while inviting his ‘bhaiya’ and ‘bhabhi’. The cast was seen enjoying Kangana’s birthday in style with other eminent guests like designer Manish Malhotra and Mika. We hope that Kangana, as she receives the National Award for her performance in Queen, also attains the biggest hit of this year in the form of Tanu weds Manu Returns!
